Freshmen Orientation
Looks like the Class of 2014 just might be the best class since Class of 2011!
Thank you Link Crew Leaders who brought your freshmen groups into the Academic Center during your school tours and, most importantly, for saying that I'm way awesome. What a great way to indoctrinate the new class, and I appreciated the cool introduction everyone--no joke. Sam Hayward didn't say how cool I was, but he DID have everyone clap at the end, so I suppose I forgive him.
Some Link Crew members MIGHT have said Freshmen weren't allowed on the Quad near the Student Activities Center. You might have heard something like what students say in these clips:
They're joking! And, anyways, who wants to hang out next to birds like beached whales when you can come and hang out in the A.C.? It's always 69-70 degrees in the AC, cool on hot days, warm on cold days. And we're open from 8am to 5pm--sometimes earlier like 7:30am or later like 6pm. There were so many groups running into one another in the Academic Center that some of you may have missed my little spiel about the A.C.
I won't bore with you the details. Just keep in mind that anyone and everyone is welcomed to come in any time we're open, stay, relax, chat, eat, and have fun. It's really a great environment because of the students make it their own. Feel free to tell me if you agree or disagree with my movie reviews on the board. And, yes, I liked Twight: Eclipse. If you agree or disagree, post a comment and let me hear it! I want to hear what you have to say about that movie and any other movie you have seen.
As I mentioned, we have a computer lab so you can work on school work, check in with friends on Facebook, check emails and print in B/W to your heart's delight. We have headphones at my desk, so if you need a pair, come by and ask.

We have plenty of textbooks, school supplies, and art supplies for you to borrow throughout the day. After school, we should have some yummy snacks for sale. Below is a dumb little 35-second trailer for our center.
We should have our lame little short film (16 minutes) up by next week. Sam Hayward, Chloe Blanchard, and Jesse Klein are in it and were also Link Crew Leaders this year, so look for it on the Fanpage soon.
Oh, and Freshmen, don't forget to hit 'Like' on the Freshmen status update on the fan page. You have until 3pm to do so in order to be eligible for the first gift card giveaway.

Our WebsiteYes, we have a website. It'll be the homepage on all the AC computers, with quick links to BlackBoard and Facebook. We also have information on how to find a tutor, important dates, and announcements about upcoming Mock S.A.T. tests and S.A.T. boot camps.

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
Thanks to everyone who kept in touch over the summer, and it was really great seeing a lot of you last week, including those who spent more than a few minutes in the AC to chat: Michael Papp, Nikita, William, Jeffrey, Chloe, Jesse, Max, Jesse (nice shirt design), Paula, Howon, Sophia, Mia (still waiting for that Rock info for our site) and a whole bunch of others. Oh, and of course Tara and Sam. Love those 90 minute conversations about nothing. We were actually open from 8am to 6pm a couple of days last week, that's great.
Now that Kaan and Hillary won't be fighting at the desk anymore, there just might be more civility in our center =)
